Ethiopic Clement 2

English translation: M. R. James, 1924 ('The Apocryphal New Testament'; Oxford: Clarendon Press, section 'D. The Ethiopic Text', within the Apocalypse of Peter). Public domain (US, pre-1929). The Ethiopic version of the Apocalypse of Peter is preserved as book 2 of the Ethiopic Clement (Mashafa Qalementos) corpus, and is the only one of the seven books of Ethiopic Clement currently available in a public-domain English translation. Books 1 and 3 to 7 are blocked: modern compilations by Lumpkin and Mikhail are copyrighted, and no public-domain English source is currently available. James's Greek-fragment sections (the Akhmim fragment, the Bodleian leaf, and the Sibylline Oracles paraphrase) are omitted as they are not part of the Ge'ez recension. James's Ethiopic translation has no intrinsic chapter or verse divisions; we ship each paragraph as one chapter rendered as a single verse.
