This is the closest available public-domain English of the Epistula Apostolorum, which underlies the Ge'ez Mashafa Kidan II. James worked from the Coptic, Ethiopic, and Latin witnesses; the Ethiopic recension differs from the Coptic and Latin in places, and parenthetical witness notes such as (Eth.) and (Copt. resumes.) reflect James's apparatus. Each numbered section becomes one chapter rendered as a single verse, matching the discursive shape of the source.
