Chapter 36
1Concerning Widows and Virgins, and at what time the bishop should fast. And they shall do as we have often said. The widows and virgins shall fast, and pray in the church. And the presbyters and the deacons shall fast at any time they will. And likewise shall the people fast. And the bishop ought not to fast, except at the time when all the people fast ; because if they bring that which is proper to bring into the church, and no (one) can be refused ; and (the man) having broken his own bread, he shall taste and eat with the other believers who are with him ; and they shall receive from the hand of the bishop a piece of delivered bread before they partake. It is Eulogia (awlogiya) — everyone shall receive the bread which has been offered. For this is bread of blessing, and not the Oblation as the 'Body of our Lord Christ.
